You have to get out of the boat if you wish to walk on water.
I have a question for you. Think carefully before responding. Do you believe in God? Your answer must have been, “Yes! I trust Him, of course. I give everything up.” However, I would like to push you to think about whether you completely trust Him, or if I’m being honest, to acknowledge that I haven’t been completely trusting Him in EVERY aspect of my life.
Like you, I truly try, and my heart is set on giving up everything. However, I have occasionally let God down by willfully ignoring Him, defying His Word and the guidance of the Spirit.
I shudder to consider how much more disappointed He feels when those of us who know Him don’t trust Him enough to obey Him. Disobeying Him when you don’t know any better is one thing.
“Oh you of little faith, why did you doubt?” — Matthew 14:31
When I hear people talk about Matthew 14:22–36, they usually utilize it to clarify what we mean by faith. Verse 31 is well known to all of us, but let me ask you again.
What blessings or opportunities have we missed out on because we didn’t trust God enough to get out of the boat?
God has many blessings for you, and He doesn’t want you to miss any of them. However, you must have enough faith in Him to act, to try, to be receptive to something new, something old, or something different in order to receive them.
You have to get out of the boat like Peter, BUT, you have to KEEP WALKING.
Never give up. just going ahead. persistently pursuing God’s hand. and questioning yourself each time you make a decision.
Today! Am I Trusting God?
